In December 2025, after several years of discussions and efforts by many at the museum and in the community, MoMA announced that they had acquired 4018, 2786, 5616, 5160, 3407, 7178, 74, and 7899 along with a full set of Chromie Squiggles. In their 2025 Annual Report they wrote:

"Exploring the forefront of art and technology, MoMA also added key examples of digital art, including a selection of eight CryptoPunks, a landmark 2017 interactive art project on the Ethereum blockchain, as well as Erick Calderon (Snowfro)’s Chromie Squiggles (2020), a groundbreaking on-chain generative artwork comprising 10,000 uniquely varied compositions. Both reflect the Museum’s ongoing engagement with new art forms, technologies, and artistic communities."

While the acquisition was announced as a single event, the 8 punks in the collection were donated individually by JudithESSS, Rhydon and Caroline Lee, Ryan Zurrer, Matt Hall and John Watkinson (Larva Labs), Mara and Erick Calderon, the Tomaino Family, and The Cozomo de' Medici Collection. Natalie Stone worked closely on curation of this set with Matt & John on the final set as appropriately representative of the full 10k collection, with 5160 specifically being noted as emblematic of punk aesthetics.

More was written about this on their social media accounts by Erick Calderon, Natalie Stone, Larva Labs, and 1of1.
